You may have heard this before, but in our lack of personal bandwidth, and with incredible built in forgetters, it is worth a constant reminder, and accountability.
Treat your social media presence like a business casual cocktail party.
- Don’t spew drunken blather all over your presence. Yes you will get some attention, but I doubt anyone will give you much business.
- What influence or assets do you bring to the party?
- LISTEN and care. We spent so much time queueing our next insta-thought in 100 chars or less. Yet, I challenge you to spend at least 25% social time, listening, and trying to help others along the journey.
- Lastly, real social interaction requires that you participate, rather than delegate. I am all into using the best tools for the job; however you will be called the TOOL, if you really expect people to be the friend of your bot, or subordinate.
NOW… Get off your greatest assets and introduce yourself to someone on the net, and see if you can be nice, before you try to sell them something.
